we catch the last sunrise of the trip at summit lake, where pools of richly textured ice reflect the rosy sky. despite plans to explore new spots, two sightings bring us back to the summit. there, we find not one but two very patient subjects warming themselves in the morning sun: another mountain goat and the wee little pika. the photography gets even more fun with a borrowed 600 mm lens.
