The sporadic rains of Texas bring distinctive water birds that frequent ditches and bayous.
They are finicky types who arrive only when ditches of fresh rainwater are available and twilight is falling.

And they are rightly skittish when goofy photographers creep up to them!
Fortunately,they have permitted a few portraits.
